Important Notice from the Arizona Department of Transportation
On Feb. 20, 2013, a landslide ripped through a section of US 89 along a mountain slope about 25 miles south of Page, buckling more than 150 feet of the roadway and tearing the pavement up in six-foot-high sections.
The significant roadway damage forced the Arizona Department of Transportation to immediately close a 23-mile-long stretch of the highway (at mileposts 523-546) between the US 89A junction near Bitter Springs to the State Route 98 junction near Page.

Lake Powell, located within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, is a travel and vacation destination unto itself.
Although many people come here as a stopover to somewhere else, the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park or Bryce Canyon National Park, the lake itself is what draws people back year after year, vacation after vacation.
After all, Lake Powell is one of the most scenic lakes in the United States offering so many things to so many people.
But, one of the neatest things about the lake is its proximity to so many beautiful and wonderful places.
Some of these places that can be visited in a day are:
* Hole-in-the-Rock
* Glen Canyon Dam
* Glen Canyon Bridge

* Canyon de Chelly National Monument
* Cedar Breaks National Monument
* Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park
* Monument Valley
* Navajo National Monument
* Hovenweep National Monument
* Natural Bridges National Monument
* Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
* Walnut Canyon National Monument
If your interest is more physical than visual, there are plenty of activities for you:
* Hiking
* Mountain Biking
* Golfing
* Rock Climbing
* Rock Hunting
* Landscape Photography

In the pages that follow, I hope eventually to introduce you to all of the above places and activities.
I apologize that they are not immediately available and hope you will not give up on me.
The Colorado Plateau, in which the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is located, is one of the most beautiful and scenic areas of the southwest.
It, like the lake, offers so many things to so many people.
I started this website in February 2011, and, quite honestly, it has not lived up to my hopes and expectations.
I would appreciate some honest appraisals and suggestions as to how to improve it.
